Stop Unwanted Notifications, Data Collection on OnePlus Phones Running OxygenOS

In the past, we’ve seen OnePlus collecting user data for analytical purposes. The manufacturer collected IMEI, MAC addresses, IP addresses, phone numbers, and other information which could be used to track the user or user’s account. It’s 2021 now and OnePlus still collects a lot of data about how you use your device for analytics. If you’re not comfortable with sharing your data, OnePlus does give you the option to turn off data collection. You can also disable promotional notifications, by following the guide below.

1. Turn Off Experience Improvement Programmes

Like other phones, OnePlus has a user improvement program that collects your data. This is primarily done by the company to analyze what you use, your usage pattern, and other data to improve their product. You can turn it off in your phone settings, as follows: Below, we’ve mentioned what disabling each option means so that you can decide accordingly:

OnePlus Notifications: Disabling it will turn off any notifications about official news, product information, questionnaires, and purchase recommendations or coupon information from OnePlus.

User Experience Programme: Disable it to prevent OnePlus from anonymously analyzing general statistical data about how you use your phone to improve product design and user experience.

System Stability Programme: Turning it off will prevent OnePlus from accessing system logs anonymously. It also stops the company from submitting bug reports with logs in the event of an error.

OnePlus Service Messaging: You can turn this off to stop OnePlus from delivering you prompt messaging services which it does to ensure an optimized product experience.

Built-in App Updates: When on, it allows OnePlus to check for and push built-in app updates to improve app stability. You can choose to keep it on or off on basis of whether you want updates or not.

2. Opt out of Ads Personalization

The next step is to opt-out of ad personalization. Doing so will make sure that apps do not use your advertising ID to build profiles or show you personalized ads.

3. Turn Off Usage and Diagnostics, Device Personalization Services

Like other Android phones, you get the option to turn off usage diagnostics in OxygenOS. Once you turn it off, your phone will no longer automatically send any diagnostic, device, or app usage data to Google.

4. Disable OnePlus Anonymous Device Identifier

OnePlus phones also have an anonymous device identifier setting which is enabled by default. It provides an anonymous device identifier for OnePlus internet services such as cloud service. However, if you don’t any such services, you can turn it off using the steps given below.
