Just like most messaging and image sharing platforms, Snapchat is easy to use and learn. However, there are a lot of hidden features and tricks in the app that are usually unknown to everyone. Using these Snapchat hacks you will be able to send more cool snaps to your friends.
Snapchat hidden features
There are a whole lot of things you can do on Snapchat that maybe you haven’t heard about yet. But before jump into these hidden features, it’s important to refresh the basics. So, you can click an image or record video. The snap you capture can be set as a “Snapchat Story” which will be shown to select friends or the public for about 10 seconds before they disappear forever. Similarly, you can add Snap stories, and they stay for 24 hours. That’s all about common features of Snapchat. Here are some Snapchat hidden features and tricks you probably didn’t know about.
Add more filters on a snap
You can add more than one filters on a Snap. To use two or more filters on a snap, first, swipe right on a snap and select a filter you like. Now, press and hold the snap with one finger and use another finger to swipe over to the other filter and apply it too. If you choose a color effect as the first filter such as black and white, you’ll only be able to choose from the available banner overlays for your second and more filters. So, you cannot add more color filter but add those that show the time, location or weather.
Add location filters
There is a Geofilter feature which shows the location of your snap. It requires keeping the location services turned on your phone. These filters are a cool and nice way of sharing where you are taking the pictures. Moreover, you can create your own geo-filter for occasions or places such as a wedding and you can use Snapchat’s online Geofilter creation tool.
Find your favorite celebrities
Your favorite celebrities are there on social media platforms to interact with fans and for fans, it is a great way to know about their lives. On Snapchat there are many celebrities from across the globe and it is now easy to find them. You need to just tap on the Snapchat search box and type Official and search. A number of official celebrity accounts will appear in the search results. Though this list may not include all the celebrities on Snapchat, it still is a good way to start searching for them.
Identify Songs
Here is a feature using which you can identify any song playing around you. When you want to identify a song, just hold your finger down on the camera screen. After a few seconds, a window will pop up with the song’s name and artist. From there, you can snap the song to your friends and even add the Song’s artist as a Snapchat friend.
Change friend’s emoji icon
If you see your friend list on Snapchat, you’ll find each name has an emoji next to it. These emojis have a different meaning like a baby will appear next to a new friend, while another appears next to the one whom you’ve added as the best friend. Well, you can change the emojis by yourself easily. Just tap on settings option in the upper left corner of the home screen. Then scroll down and tap on the ‘Manage Preferences’ option under the Additional Services subhead. Here, tap Friend Emojis and you can change emojis for the friends as per your choice.
Night Mode in Camera
When it comes to low-light conditions, most smartphone cameras struggle to capture a good picture. So, trying to capture a snap in low light conditions can be challenging. But you will be glad to know Snapchat has a night mode built-in. A half-moon icon will appear in the top right of the screen if you use the app in a low light area. To see it manually, and also in case it doesn’t trigger automatically, you can cover your phone’s camera lens with your hand.
Draw using more colors
Drawing over a snap is quite easy on Snapchat. You just tap on the pencil icon in the top right corner and you are ready to draw anything on it with different colors. But, you should know that the available shades of color aren’t the only colors you can use. When the color pallet is launched, drag your finger from the color bar toward the edges of the screen and it gives you options like black, white, and gray that aren’t shown on the bar.
