Some of the new feature additions to the new headset called CrescentBay are 360 degree head tracking with the LED at the rear of the headstrap, enhanced optics, higher refresh rate and higher resolution. The new headset is pretty lighter than the previous Oculus prototype. The new in-built headphones developed with RealSpace3D, its software partner assures a virtual surround sound audio component. As of now, Oculus has not revealed the details regarding the technical specifications of the CrescentBay, but the firm’s CEO Brendan Iribe claims that the CrescentBay will render superior performance with the most recent Rift development kit. Social networking giant Facebook acquired the virtual reality company Oculus earlier this year for a sum of $2 billion. As of now, the firm has not created a consumer version of the virtual reality headset. While Google’s Cardboard and Samsung’s Gear VR use a smartphone, Facebook and Oculus VR have made the CrescentBay a more sophisticated, independent and ultra-high-resolution experience.
