Under Android One program, Google will handle software updates and timely dispatch latest Android version for OEMs, it will also work in close cooperation with OEM’s for better hardware-software optimization for great user experience.

At Google I/O this year, Sundar Pichai showcased a $100 Micromax phone as part of the Android One program, and this is what might be holding things back. According to the sources, Google wants to keep the price at $100 but OEMs want it to be higher.

Since the launch event will happen in September and since the first 3 Android One Phones are almost ready, we can expect the software to be Android 4.4.4 Kitkat which will later get updated to Android L. As far as hardware goes, we are still very much in dark but the Micromax Phone is expected to run on Qualcomm chipset. Budget Android users have suffered from lack of software support till now but Google is truly determined to change that. Inexpensive Androids are way ahead of what they used to be prior to arrival of Moto E and Zenfone 5 a couple of months back and perhaps Android one will make things better. Source: India Today
