Display & Processor

Both the smartphones sport a 5.0-inch 720p display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Apart from the size, both the screens are also IPS LCD screens with 16 million colors. The viewing angles on both the phones are decent and are comparable to each other. On the processor side of things, both the smartphones feature processors based on the Cortex A-53 architecture. The Honor Holly 2 Plus sports a MediaTek chipset, with the processor clocked at 1.3GHz whereas the Motorola Moto G3 features a Snapdragon 410 chipset, with the clock speed as 1.4GHz. Again, both the processors are Quad-Core and are comparable to each but in heavy usage Holly 2 Plus is better.

User Interface & Operating System

Coming on to the user interface and operating system side of things, both the phone run on base Android 5.1 Lollipop. The user interface on the Honor Holly 2 Plus is based on the Emotion UI, a lite skin version of the Android 5.1 from Honor, whereas the Moto G3 features a near-stock Android feel with some small Motorola enhancements like Moto Assist and Moto Display. Personally, I like the stock Android experience but custom features of Holly 2 Plus offers much more in terms of features

Camera & Storage

On paper, both the phones feature a 13-megapixel f/2.0 primary camera and a 5-megapixel secondary camera. But, on actually using the devices for taking pictures, the pictures from the Honor Holly 2 Plus were much better when compared to the Moto G3. The pictures turned out to be rich in detail and quality with the Holly 2 Plus. For the storage options, both the smartphones come with 16GB of Storage, and 2GB of RAM, but the Moto G3 is also available in a lower storage option of 8GB, with just 1GB of RAM. Both the smartphones can be expanded via a microSD card up to 32GB of storage on the card. Both the smartphones are pretty much same in the storage department with the 16GB storage option.

Battery & Other Features

The battery on both these phones is really different. The Moto G3 packs a 2470mAh battery, whereas the Holly 2 Plus packs a massive 4000mAh battery. Both the batteries are sealed inside the body and are not user replaceable. Since the Honor Holly 2 Plus as a bigger battery, it gives a much better battery life when compared to the Moto G3. The Holly 2 Plus has an extra feature that is called Reverse Charging. You can use the Holly 2 Plus as an external battery pack to charge your other devices. This is an added advantage because of the massive 4000mAh battery on the Holly 2 Plus. The Moto G3 is IPX7 water resistant, which makes it better for use in areas that are prone to water, or high amount of moisture.

Pricing & Availability

The Honor Holly 2 Plus is available for INR 8,999 only for the 16GB model of the phone, whereas the Motorola Moto G3 is available for INR 10,999 for the 16GB model.

Conclusion

Overall, the Honor Holly 2 Plus is a better phone for the price at which it is offered. The Holly 2 Plus has a better camera and a massive battery, and the other aspects are more or less similar to the Moto G3. The Moto G3, on the other hand, is INR 2,000 more expensive than the Holly 2 Plus, but with that, you get a bit better build quality and IPx7 water resistance. The choice comes down to your personal preference obviously, but for me, the Honor Holly 2 Plus is a better bet at a cheaper price point.
