Your device will become laggy if too many apps are running in the background and your phone battery will drain faster too as phone components will have to work hard to manage these extra processes. In this article, I will highlight some methods by which you can stop such android apps that are causing problems while running in the background. This will surely benefit you greatly and save up your battery and speed up your Android. The first step in stopping a troublesome Android application is finding it. Below are the ways by which you can find and stop such apps.

Limiting Battery usage for specific apps

From battery settings, you can limit the usage of apps to stop them from both consuming battery and system resources. Here’s how: On your Android, go to Settings. Scroll down and find Battery and device care. Tap on it. Next, tap Battery and then tap the Battery Usage (since the last charge) option.

On this page, you will see all those apps that are using your Android battery. The apps using the most battery will appear on the top. You can tap the application that is using too much battery (although you don’t use it much). On the bottom, tap Limit usage and then Put to sleep or Put in deep sleep.

Put to sleep limits the background usage of the application. Updates and notifications will be delayed for that application. Turning on Put in deep sleep will cause the application to never run in the background and you won’t receive any updates or notifications for that application.

Ram usage

You can also see current running apps that are sitting in phone RAM. For finding out which application is using more RAM than you want it to, you have to turn on the Developer options (if they are not turned on already). To do this, go to Settings. Scroll down. Find and tap About phone. Then tap Software information. Look for the Build number. You have to tap on it seven times to enable Developer options.

Go back to Settings and open Developer options. Tap on Running services.

You will find out which apps are using how much RAM. Tap on that application and Stop any of the apps that you don’t use much that are using too much RAM. This will help to free up your memory.

Using Power saving mode on Android

Power saving mode can be turned on in Android to limit the background network usage, syncing, and location checking. Furthermore, Motion smoothness will also be changed to standard 60 Hz. It will also limit power to background apps which will surely save tons of resources. There are further options under the Power saving mode that you can explore and benefit from if you like. To turn on Power saving mode, go to Settings. Look for Battery and device care and tap on it. Then select Battery. Next, turn on the toggle next to the Power saving mode. You can tap on the option to explore further options like turning off the display, limiting CPU speed, etc.

Wrapping Up

If you have tried all the above options and are still getting a hot and laggy device, the best solution is to simply update your software. If then the problem persists, you can uninstall any application that is using too much of your device’s battery or other precious resources like RAM, CPU, etc. Still, if you can’t rid yourself of the problem, then perhaps it is time to say goodbye to your mobile phone and buy a new one.
