Display and Processor Sony has included a 5.2 inch Full HD IPS LCD TRILUMINOS display in the Xperia Z2 boasting a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 424 ppi pixel density. This display features the X-Reality Engine that analyzes the images to reproduce the lacking pixels, optimize the quality and enhance the contrast. Furthermore, the display is shatter proof and scratch resistant to withstand the daily wear and tear. On the other hand, the HTC One is fitted with a 5 inch Super LCD 3 display with a FHD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels translating to pixel density of 441 pixels per inch. Also, the screen is protected using the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 technology. When it comes to processing power, both the phones score well as they are stuffed with the latest Snapdragon 801 chipset housing a quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait processor coupled with Adreno 330 GPU. However, a variant of the HTC One aimed for markets such as Asia and China will feature 2.5 GHz Krait processor on board. It has to be noted that Sony has incorporated 3 GB of RAM in its flagship, while the HTC One M8 offers 2 GB of RAM. Both the Xperia Z2 and One M8 run on Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the most recent iteration of Google’s operating system. While the HTC offering features the all new Sense 6.0 UI, the Sony phone has the custom Sony UI over it. But, the handset is no match for the Sony’s Xperia Z2 that comes with the IP58 certification. However, HTC One M8 is recommended for its exceptional camera qualities that remain unmatched since last year with the debut of One M7.
