Camera and Internal Storage

The Intex Aqua i14 has been given an 8 MP primary camera that is coupled with LED flash. The rear camera is pretty impressive for all the basic photography requirements. It also has features such as panorama shot, air shuffle, continuous shot and face beauty that make it impressive. The front of the handset gets a 2 MP snapper to assist in video calling and clicking selfies, though it is not rich in quality. The internal storage capacity of the handset is 4 GB, which can be expanded externally with the help of a micro SD card by another 32 GB. Except Micromax Unite A092, almost all the budget smartphones in the sub Rs 10,000 price range has the same package when it comes to memory capacity making the Intex phone no way substandard.

Processor and Battery

Carrying out the functions at the heart of the handset is a quad-core processor ticking at 1.3 GHz clock speed that is paired with 1 GB of RAM responsible for multi-tasking. This combination of processor and RAM sweetens the deal as compared to the other entry-level handsets that pack low 512 MB of RAM onboard. The Aqua i14 includes a 1,850 mAh battery that is good enough for a budget smartphone though the backup delivered by the same is not known. We doubt it will last for a day, but it should be providing at least mediocre performance under moderate usage.

Display and Features

The display unit of the Aqua i14 is a 5 inch unit which carries a resolution of 854×480 pixels. Being an IPS panel, it will give provide moderate viewing angles, but it is not expected to fare well as it is a budget smartphone. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and this is one of the major highlights of the device. The combination of quad-core processor and decent RAM capacity is believed to be sufficient for the latest iteration of Android to sail through providing a good user experience.

Comparison

The Intex Aqua i14 will be entering into a highly competitive sub Rs 8,000 semgnet which is lucrative with the entry of Moto E followed by Karbonn Titanium S99, Lava Iris X1 and others.

Price and Conclusion

The Intex Aqua i14 comes across as a value for money offering with pretty decent specifications. Though the handset compromises on some aspects, we cannot expect more advanced features from a smartphone at this price point. Definitely, Intex has done a good job in launching a good smartphone and we expect it grab the attention of consumers for its impressive spec sheet.
