The screen size does remind you of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, and this phone, just like the Note 2 features a quad core processor and 2GB of RAM. However, the Optimus G Pro features a better screen, among a few other things. Confused as to which one to go for? Read below!

Camera and Internal Storage

The Optimus G Pro features an impressive 13MP rear camera, like the Xperia Z. Pictures from this sensor should be very crisp and clear, and given the resolution, zoom-ability should be very good too. The camera supports various features such as Geo-tagging, face detection, image stabilization, panorama and HDR. HDR lets you take great pictures in situations where there is a mixture of low and bright lights. The front camera on the Optimus G Pro is a 2.1MP shooter, which will be used for video calling and self portraits. The phone is already very popular, especially in Korea and Singapore regions, LG would definitely hope to recreate the success in the Indian sub-continent. The phone comes in two variants as far as storage is concerned, 16 and 32GB variants. The phone has a microSD card slot, and can work with microSD cards of up to 64GB in size, which means there will be sufficient storage for even the most demanding users.

Processor and Battery

The phone packs a very powerful processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600. The processor features 4 Qualcomm APQ8064T cores clocked at 1.7 GHz. This means that the phone will be very capable in terms of processing power, and along with the Adreno 320 GPU, will make an extremely powerful combination which will have extreme processing as well as gaming capabilities. The Adreno 320 GPU is well known, and it is a fact that the GPU can handle even the most graphic extensive games. The phone will be a gamer’s delight, given the GPU and large screen combination. The device will come with a 3140mAh battery, which is about the average for large screen phones today. The battery should have enough in it to take you through one day if you are a gamer/multimedia user, and even more if you use the phone more moderately. However, one charge per day will be required in any case.

Display Size and Features

As mentioned above, the phone features a large screen, measuring 5.5 inches diagonally. The resolution on this massive screen is Full HD, or 1920×1080. On calculating the PPI, we get a value of 401, which is quite decent for a screen as large as the one on the Optimus G Pro. It will be extremely hard for the human eye to detect pixels on this one, and videos and images will be quite crisp and fluid. The hardware used in the display is an IPS-LCD panel, which means that viewing angles will be great too. IPS technology allows you to have viewing angles f up to 178 degrees, which is indeed more than what is required. Other features of the device include 4G LTE, FM Radio, NFC, IR Port, etc. The phone also packs MHL video output and USB host capabilities. All these features mean that the phone will be at par with all other flagship devices from around the world.

Comparison With Other Devices

The device can be compared to a host of other devices. Comparison can be made on basis of price, scree, camera, etc, but the first phone that pops up in your mind is the Samsung Galaxy Note II, which features the same screen size, but with a lesser resolution. Other comparable devices can be Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 (Quick Review), Huawei Ascend Mate (Quick Review) etc. However, the LG Optimus G Pro does look like the best 5.5 inch device in the market at the moment if it gets launched at a decent affordable price in india.

Key Specifications

Conclusion

We have a very positive reaction to the specs on paper presented by the LG Optimus G Pro. For people who tend to like devices measuring more than 5 inches, the Optimus G Pro might be the answer, since the phone with it’s full HD resolution, 13MP camera among other features, makes for a very strong contender in any range, not only phablets. The 5.5 inch screen will be great for people who tend to watch a lot of TV shows or movies on their phones/on the move. MHL, USB OTG are added advantages on the phone, and should make the phone more productive. At this moment, we would definitely give the phone a thumbs up, and we do feel the phone will have many buyers across the country.
