Recently Cyanogen added support for Snapdragon 615 MSM8939 and Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 chipsets as is evident from their recent source code activity from GitHub. This strongly indicates that Micromax might be using these 64 bit chipset in its upcoming YU smartphones. The 64 bit SoCs ditches age old ARMv7 architecture for more power efficient ARMv8 architecture. Since smartphones are heading towards 64 bit computing in 2015, it would be nice to see these new chipsets in YU devices. Android Lollipop is the only Android version which supports 64 bit architecture and since YU branded smartphones are supposed to integrate hardware and software, perhaps they will include Android Lollipop based CyanogenMod software. Micromax YU brand smartphones will retail online to challenge new entrants who mainly include Chinese players like Xiaomi and Vivo. Micromax has already started YUPlayGod forums to encourage developer community to participate in the software development of these upcoming smartphones. Complete specifications and details will be revealed next week on Thursday. We will be present on the ground to update you with all there is to be excited about.
