Netflix has been eyeing India for quite some time but was reluctant to launch its services in India owing to extremely slow internet speeds and piracy issues. Now, Netflix has partnered with a 4G firm, which essentially means that it has entered into a partnership with Bharti Airtel which has wide 4G coverage in some parts of the country. With Reliance announcing its 4G service i.e. Reliance Jio recently which is momentarily available to its employees only is still awaiting public roll out. So this leaves Bharti Airtel as the only key player.

It will be interesting to note how much Netflix charges for the monthly subscriptions in India, keeping in mind that Netflix subscribers need to pay only $8.99 on a monthly basis, which roughly translates to INR 600. Netflix has more than 70 million users across 50 countries and is one of the most popular video streaming service and offers streaming content in association with many TV channels and movie studios and nonetheless it has its own exclusive shows. So it can be a game changing decision for Indian masses who spend significant amount of money on paying bills of cable connections and DTH services.
