Display
There’s quite a lot of difference between the display sizes of these devices. While the Lumia 1320 is a full sized phablet with a 6 inch screen, the Grand 2 is more on the smartphone side with a 5.25 inch display. While the Lumia 1320 can be compared to the HTC One Max in terms of display size, the Grand 2 can be compared to the LG G2. While we cannot recommend you a size since it will depend on your needs, we would just like to comment that a 6 inch phone might just be too big to carry around. Also, since both devices have the same 720p resolution, the Grand 2 will have a better pixel density.
Camera and Storage
The Lumia 1320 comes with a surprisingly weak set of cameras. As you would see from the specs table above, there’s a 5MP rear shooter paired with a VGA front. On the other hand, the Grand 2 comes with an 8MP rear and a 1.9MP front. Although Nokia’s imaging hardware quality is known to be a notch above the rest, we would like to believe that it is the Grand 2 which will have a better overall result when it comes to imaging. On the storage front, both devices are very similar, in fact identical with 8GB on-board ROM along with a microSD slot for further expansion.
Processor and Battery
The Lumia 1320 features a 1.7GHz dual core processor, whereas the Grand 2 comes in with a 1.2GHz quad core. Of course, on paper the Grand 2 does look like the more powerful of the two. However, WP8 comes with a much better optimization which puts the Lumia 1320 on par (or maybe even ahead) of the Grand 2 in this regard. The 3400mAh unit of the Lumia 1320 impresses, while the 2600mAh one on the Grand 2 isn’t too bad as well. Again, with better optimization, the Lumia 1320 might turn out to have a better battery life altogether. This is one aspect to look out for in the near future.
Conclusion
We have to admit, looking deeper than just the specs sheet, the Nokia Lumia 1320 does impress more than the outlook it leaves. On paper it pretty much is a no show with Samsung’s Galaxy Grand 2 taking the upper hand on almost every aspect, but as we said, looking deeper makes you believe that the Lumia 1320 can own this battle between phablets. I, for one, would go with the Lumia 1320 even with the slightly excess size and lower pixel density.
