Opera browser uses Artificial Intelligence which is aimed at providing users with relevant content in a smart way. The AI engine observes user’s news-reading behavior in real time and learns from it to provide them with the personalized news feed. The company will now use the same AI tech for its separate app which has been codenamed Opera Habari. The company has said that it has witnessed 50% growth since Opera Mini Browser’s introduction back in January 2017. The data from November 2017 shows that the average user on Opera Mini browser spends 40 minutes every day and engages with about 65 to 81 news stories per day.
The Opera browser is an access point for exploring news and video content from the internet, as per the company. The Opera Mini app is used for activities like online shopping, looking up information and mobile payments etc. Now, Opera is planning to launch a dedicated news and content app, codenamed Opera Habari, which will be offering relevant news and videos. “Building on the success of Opera Mini, we will continue developing our AI-service to make it one of the leading content discovery platforms in the world. The unique combination of a large user base with our deep technology skills gives Opera a unique position to achieve this goal. We are looking forward to releasing the new app in the near future,” said Jan Standal, VP Product Marketing, and Communication- Opera. Opera Habari will use the same AI-engine that is used in Opera browsers, because of which, the users will get their news faster and they will get easy access to news and videos that interest them. Opera has partnered with over 800 websites and publishers for providing the news and relevant content.
