Qualcomm has been trying to compete in the MediaTek territory for some time now, especially since the market momentum is shifting towards budget devices. While Snapdragon 400 quad core (Cortex A7) has been a success in top layered budget devices, these two new chipsets will help Qualcomm dive deeper. The Snapdragon 210 is a quad core SoC clocked at 1.1 GHz. The 4 cortex A7 cores are formed on 28 nm Process and assisted by Adreno 304 GPU. The chipset can support up to 8 MP camera, with 1080p full HD video recording. The chipset also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0, an interesting feature at this price. There is support for 720P HD Display, Qualcomm RF360 Front End Solution, eMMC 4.5 SD 3.0 (UHS-I), Dual SIM, NFC, GPS, Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity and LPDDR2/LPDDR3 at 533MHz. The Snapdragon 208 on the other hand is 1.1 GHz dual core SoC with same 28 nm formed Cortex A7 cores and Adreno 304 GPU. The SoC will support up to qHD display resolution, dual SIM connectivity, Up to 5 MP camera and 720p video recording. Other features include Qualcomm Quick Charge 2, eMMC 4.51 SD 3.0 (UHS-I), 3G HSPA+, Qualcomm RF360 Front End Solution, Bluetooth 4.1 + BLE, NFC and GPS. Memory interface support is LPDDR2/LPDDR3 400MHz Single-channel 16-bit. You can expect smartphones with these chipsets to debut in first half of 2015. Qualcomm Reference design tablets based on Snapdragon 210 will also be available.
