Interestingly, Z1 is the first market across the globe to receive the Z1 and the device is focused on those potential buyers who are planning to upgrade to a smartphone for the first time. As per Asim Warsi, Vice President Marketing, Samsung India, the firm has sold between 50,000 and 55,000 units of the Z1 since its debut on January 14.

While the entry level smartphone segment is dominated by Android OS, Samsung developed Tizen OS along with Huawei Technologies and Intel Corp to challenge the Google’s platform. Notably, Tizen OS has a simple user interface that is clutter free. Also, the Samsung Z1 smartphone boasts of a premium design and it is believed to outshine its competitors. To refresh on its specifications, the Samsung Z1 boasts of a 4 inch WVGA PLS display with 480×800 pixels and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual core processor teamed up with 768 MB of RAM. Running on Tizen 2.3 OS, the device comes equipped with a 3.1 MP primary camera at its back and a VGA front facing camera. There is bundled 4 GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded externally by another 64 GB with the help of a micro SD card. A 1,500 mAh battery energizes the Samsung Z1 and it is rated to deliver up to 7 hours of video playback and up to 8 hours of talk time to the device. Like most of the other Samsung smartphones, this one also comes with the ultra power saving mode to enhance the battery backup. There are connectivity options such as 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1.
