Camera and Internal Storage

The rear camera has a 1.3 MP sensor while at the front a VGA unit is present. Needless to say, it wouldn’t be wise to expect much from the imaging hardware. It’s just there to check some spec sheet boxes, but this won’t certainly be a deal breaker in this price range. Intex Cloud Fx it’s primary rival has a bigger 2 MP rear sensor, but the quality isn’t anything to write home about in either devices. Internal storage is 256 MB out of which around 70 MB is available at user end. Storage is further expandable to 4 GB using MicroSD card slot.

Processor and Battery

The processor used is 1 GHz Single core processor coupled with 128 MB RAM and can handle UI transitions smoothly. In our time with the device, we didn’t observe any lag, but we are not sure if that will hold in the long run. Battery capacity is 1400 mAh, which again sounds decent enough at this price range. Spice hasn’t specified how long this will last in practical scenario.

Display and Other Features

The display is 3.5 inches in size with 480 x 320 pixels spread across it. The humble TFT LCD display has good colors and average viewing angles. Again since this is an entry level phone, we have no gripe with the lack of IPS LCD panel.

Other features include 2G connectivity, Dual SIM connectivity, WiFi and Bluetooth. Firefox OS has basic interface similar to what we saw on Intex Cloud Fx. Apps and webpages look similar and there are several preloaded apps present as well.

Comparison

Spice Fire One will primarily compete with Intex Cloud Fx– the other phone which claims to be the first Firefox phone in India. Other competitors include cheap android phones like Karbonn A50s, Celkon Campus A15k, etc.

Conclusion and Price

Spice Fire One is one of the first few Firefox phones officially launched in India. It is targeting feature phone users who are switching from feature phones to smartphone and although it costs more than Intex Cloud Fx, users will have the advantage of free 1 GB Aircel data for first three months. The handset will first retail exclusively on Snapdeal for 2299 INR before proceeding to other stores.
