And according to the developers the game takes its inspiration from the Japanese culture, landscapes and mythical stories told across japan. The Olympics doodle game comes with its own theme music, a storyline, and even cut scenes that make it an immersive experience for gamers and regular folks alike. Since the 2020 Tokyo Olympics were delayed due to the COVID 19 situation in the past year, the event has been officially kicked off. Although it still faces controversies as participating athletes test positive for the coronavirus. However, you can experience the excitement of the Olympics event safely at your home by playing Lucky the main playable character of the game that happens to be a calico cat. In this doodle game, you control Lucky the ninja cat to play against in-game enemies in 7 different athletic challenges, and if you manage to beat each one of these enemies you get to collect a sacred scroll as a reward.
What are the 7 in-game sporting events in Champions Island?
Since the game is a homage to Japan Olympics the sporting events featured in the game are also classic Olympics sports. While some in-game events such as table tennis are fairly easy to beat, others such as Artistic Swimming can be challenging at first. The game starts with the first sports event that is table tennis where you will be facing off against a bird-like opponent called Tengu who may use more than one ball to beat you. The second event is skateboarding that pits you against Tanuki. For the 3rd event, you have to beat a samurai called Yoichi in a game of archery. Then you have to beat Oni that resembles a sumo wrestler in a match of rugby but the good thing is you have some help from Momotaro and his pals for this event in beating Oni.
Then you move on to the more challenging event the Artistic Swimming where you face off against Princes Otohime and her pet turtle. What makes this event slightly more challenging is because you have to match fast-moving arrows when they reach the bottom of the screen and the speed at which the arrows are moving can make it difficult to match the arrows correctly. For the next event, you have to beat Fukuro an owl-like creature in a rock climbing event. For the final event, you are going to be pitted against Kijimuna in a marathon race. Each of these in-game sports events is designed to pay tribute to the Japanese culture and the Olympics sports themselves.
Champion Island leaderboard
Since the Olympics is a global event it makes sense why Google has added a global leaderboard system that Google will constantly track and update throughout the duration of the Olympics event. When the player enters the game they can join four different teams represented by four different characters and colors. There is the Blue team represented by Ushi: Red team has Karasu: Yellow team has Inari: and the green team is lead by Kappa. After you join any of these four teams the points you earn by playing and beating the in-game foes will be added to your team’s global scoreboard.
Since the game will be available to play throughout the duration of the Olympics event, players have plenty of time to add as many points to their teams as they can to make sure it tops the leaderboards.
