The report by WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp update tracking site reveals that v2.18.68, v2.18.70, and v.2.18.71 of WhatsApp beta for Android brings some really cool features. WABetaInfo has also suggested that new features are disabled-by-default and will soon be rolled out as a stable update.
Locked Recordings
WhatsApp has added this new feature for all WhatsApp beta for Android users and it was already available for Ios users. As suggested by the name, the feature allows users to record voice messages without keeping on pressing the mic icon. Now, you will only need to tap the mic icon in the chat and after 0.5 seconds, it will show you a new UI with a locked microphone button. After that, you will need to slide up your finger for enabling the lock recording. WhatsApp will also give you the possibility to navigate in the chat without holding the microphone button. Additionally, WhatsApp is also expected to roll out a ‘Preview Recordings’ feature for its Android users. Through this feature, Android users will be able to preview their voice recordings before sending them to anyone.
Delete Message for Everyone
WhatsApp had introduced Delete for Everyone feature just a few months back and now it has received an update. The WhatsApp beta v2.18.69 for Android gives users up to 4,096 seconds (68 minutes and 16 seconds) time to delete a message for everyone in a chat. Currently, the window to delete a WhatsApp message for everyone is 420 seconds or 7 minutes. This extension is expected to make its way to the stable build soon. Also, it is for Android beta users now and it will make its way to the iPhone app soon. Apart from above-mentioned features, there is another feature that was recently spotted in testing but also disabled by default. The Forwarded Message label feature shows up on top of a message if it has been forwarded from some chat. This feature could be helpful in curbing spam and fake news. The feature was spotted in WhatsApp beta v2.18.67 for Android which is the same version that brought Stickers to WhatsApp.
