Earlier, last week Xiaomi hinted that the Mi A1 would soon get the Oreo update. The company started looking for Android Oreo beta testers for the phone through its Mi Community in India as well as globally. Now it seems the company has selected some users eligible for the beta update and rolling out the Oreo update for the selected beta testers. The Oreo beta update is about 1.1GB in size and has the latest Android security patch level update for December 2017. To be noted, it is only a beta update meant for testing, and If there are no bugs found, it will soon be available as a stable update for all Mi A1 users.

Android 8.0 Oreo will come with a host of new features and improvements. Since Mi A1 run stock Android, it will get all the native features of Oreo including Background limits, Picture-in-Picture (PIP), Snoozing individual notification, Adaptive icons, Keyboard navigation, WebView enhancements and much more.

The Mi A1 got a permanent Rs. 1000 price cut in India recently. The Xiaomi Mi A1 price cut brings down the effective price of the phone to Rs. 13,999 – it was initially launched at Rs. 14,999. This will be one of the most affordable Android smartphones to get Android Oreo update. In terms of specifications, the Mi A1 comes with dual rear cameras, a 5.5-inch full HD display, and Snapdragon 625 processor with 6GB RAM. Xiaomi has launched the phone without its MIUI skin and currently running Android Nougat, it will soon be among a few phones that are on stock Oreo.
