Xiaomi launched it’s mid-range smartphone, Redmi Note 4 earlier this year in January. The smartphone comes with a premium build and a 2.5D curved glass on the front.The smartphone is priced at Rs. 9,999 for the 2GB+32GB variant, and goes upto Rs. 12,999 for 4GB RAM variant.

Display

The Yu Yureka Black features a 5 inch IPS LCD display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a 2.5D curved glass. It comes with ~69.7% screen-to-body ratio and has got a pixel density of ~441 PPI. The display is also protected with Gorilla Glass 3.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 features a 5.5 inch full HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080p and a 2.5D curved glass. It comes with ~72.7% screen-to-body ratio and has got a pixel density of ~401 PPI. Although it’s hard to notice any difference but Yu Yureka has the lead here. Being a bit smaller display with higher pixel density, the images looks bit crisp and sharp on it. Moreover it can be used comfortably with single handed and also the display has got the Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Hardware and Storage

Yu Yureka Black is powered by an octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chip-set clocked at 8 x 1.4 GHz, Cortex-A53. It comes with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of micro-SD card up to 128 GB. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chip-set clocked at 8 x 2.2 GHz, Cortex-A53. The phone has 3 variants which is starting from 2GB/32GB, 3GB/32GB to 4GB/64GB. The storage can be expanded via micro-SD card up to 128 GB. Redmi Note 4 has got a bit powerful chip-set whereas in terms of RAM, Yureka Black clearly takes the lead as it provides more amount of RAM at lower price.

Camera

Yureka Black houses a 13 MP rear camera with with Sony IMX258 sensor, PDAF, and dual LED flash. The other features also include geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, night, sports and Beauty mode. Whereas, the front has a 8MP camera with LED flash. Both front and rear cameras are capable of capturing HD videos at 30 fps.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 houses a 13 MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual tone LED flash, PDAF, Geo-tagging, face & smile detection, HDR and panorama. Whereas the front camera comes with 5 MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. Both front and rear cameras are capable of capturing HD videos at 30 fps. Rear camera performance are almost same on the both devices. However, front camera performance is better on Yureka Black as it has got higher megapixel camera and an LED selfies for better low light selfies.

Connectivity

Both smartphones comes with 4G, LTE, VoLTE, dual hybrid SIM, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS, FM Radio, USB otg, and a micro USB port. Hence in terms of connectivity department both are same.

Software and Performance

Yu Yureka Black runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system with very little customization. Redmi Note 4 runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system with MIUI 8 on top. In terms of software customization, Note 4 MIUI is highly customization. However it terms of performance both are quite smooth in day to day usage.

Battery

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has a huge 4100 mAh battery and on the other hand Yureka Black is backed by a bit lower 3000 mAh battery. Hence the Redmi Note 4 takes the lead in terms of battery performance.

Price and Availability

The Yu Yureka Black has been priced at Rs. 8,999. The device will be available in Chrome Black and Matte Black colour variants. It will go on sale exclusively on Flipkart on June 6. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 was launched in India in January this year and is going to be available in 2GB+32GB variant for Rs. 9,999,  3GB+32GB variant for Rs. 10,999, and 4GB+64GB variant for Rs. 12999, exclusively on FlipKart and MI official site.

Conclusion

Both smartphones offers a fairly good set of hardware for the price. You get a bigger display, a better battery, a better chip-set, and a highly customisable skin on Redmi Note 4. Whereas with Yureka Black you get a very fresh color option and a good build, a higher amount of RAM, a better front camera and most importantly a very decent price tag. The Yureka Black is Rs. 1,000 more cheaper as compared to the base variant of Redmi Note 4 which offers only 2 GB RAM. In short, both smartphone are quite good for the price they are offered. If you are a heavy user who loves to run graphics intensive games or app then Redmi Note 4 would be a right option. Or if you are a very normal user who runs only basic and mainstream apps then better save some bucks are go for Yureka Black.
