Among other highlights, one which strikes out particularly is the thickness of the phone, which is just 6.9mm, making it one among the thinner phones.

Camera And Internal  Storage

Like the rest of the phone’s hardware, the camera too, is as good as any available. We’re talking about a 13MP unit, which comes with flash and other goodies such as geo-tagging, autofocus, etc. This 13MP shooter is capable of shooting video in FHD, i.e., 1920x1080p. On the front, the phone sports a 2MP unit which could’ve been better, purely in terms of numbers. This, because we hardly use the front camera, and for most of us, it remains only a number. However, ZTE could’ve garnered more attention if they included a 3.15MP unit instead, which would also have put them ahead of their competitors. On the storage front, the phone packs 16GB of on board storage and comes with a micro SD slot which you can use to expand storage up to 32GB via a microSD card.

Processor And Battery

To compete with the best, top of the line hardware has been included in the phone. This includes a 1.7 GHz quad core processor, which is coupled with the whole of 2GB RAM, making it one of the most powerful hand held devices available (when it is launched, of course). You can expect the processor to maintain overall smoothness during the usage of this device, which can include UI transitions, heavy gaming, casual usage. With this phone, ZTE decided to go the HTC way, and the battery will be of non-removable type. What might put many off is the capacity of this non-removable battery, which stays at just 1780mAh. We can understand that ZTE wanted to slim down the phone, but a 1780mAh battery on a 5 inch FHD phone with a quad core processor might be outright unacceptable for many.

Display And Features

As mentioned previously, the phone packs a 5 inch Full HD screen which is as good as any. The 1080p display would be a joy to look at, if the panel is at least as good as the ones used on other ZTE phones. However, the beautiful display would also mean that juice from the battery would be down soon, so this might not be the best phone for people who’re always on the move. Especially for the fact that the phone does not support swappable batteries due to the non-removable nature. A 2500mAh battery would have been more like it, but from the looks of it, the phone is far from that.

Key Specs

Comparison

With the given specifications which do look very promising, the phone can have a strong stand against biggies from mainstream companies like HTC, Samsung and Sony. The phone can be compared to the HTC One, Samsung’s Galaxy S4, and Sony’s Xperia Z. Other Chinese rivals may include Gionee Elife E6, and the OPPO Find 5 as well.

Conclusion

The phone has a really beautifully-sleek design and measures just 6.9mm thick. All this makes us believe that the phone would be a joy to hold in the hand, and due to the FHD screen, as joy to look at as well. However, the phone is indeed let down by the lack of a sufficient sized battery. This is a trend we’ve seen in many phones now, and it won’t be long before OEMs start including more efficient batteries. For those who don’t use their phone for long times, the ZTE Grand S might be a suitable option. But for others, we do not think the phone will be able to catch the attention. This might just be an example of a great effort going in vain. According to Gizbot  ZTE Grand S will be available in India around Diwali and is Expected to be priced below 30,000 INR
